9th Regional General Council - India Support for Workers Struggle in Maruti Suzuki

In this resolution, the ITUC-AP reiterates the demand made in Resolution 10 of the 8th ITUC-AP Regional General Council Resolution on Workers’ Rights in Maruti Suzuki India. In this resolution, the Council condemns that there has been no progress towards solution to the workers’ struggle and 147 workers are still languishing in jail on serious criminal charges without trial. The Council also demands the: release of all arrested workers from jail and withdrawal of all pending cases against workers; reinstatement of all dismissed workers; and initiation of discussions with the legitimate trade unions and national trade union centers on demands like regularization of contract workers and recognition of genuine workers union in place of the management union.
