2nd Regional Conference - PROMOTING AND DEFENDING WORKERS RIGHTS

In this resolution, the 2nd Conference of the ITUC-AP Meeting in Singapore on 11-13 May 2011 reaffirms that promoting and defending workers rights everywhere is and will be our primary task. 

The Conference commits the ITUC-AP to campaign for labour law reforms, to assist affiliates in capacity  building to address deficiencies in labour legislations in the region, to continue to intensify campaign to promote ratification of ILO core conventions, to monitor and oppose cases of violation of workers fundamental and human rights, to support affiliates in all possible ways, to campaign vigorously for the release of all imprisoned for trade union activities, to work and obtain full respect for fundamental workers’ rights for those in the informal economy, to work with the ITUC to use the ILO mechanisms to present complaints to the ILO, to encourage and support establishment of independent democratic trade unions, to work with the ITUC and GUFs to continue engagement with various multilateral economic integration processes, to make effective use of all available means to address unfair labour practices adopted by multinational corporations, and to monitor labour inspection machinery.
