In this resolution, the ITUC-AP expresses its deep concern with the Indonesian Government’s decree to ban strikes in the EPZs and vital industries. Such action will make military, paramilitary, and police intervention in industrial relations possible, and thus will promote fear among workers, allowing employers to ignore laws and regulations when it comes to workers’ welfare. This ban on strike is a violation of ILO Conventions. With this the Conference calls on the Government of Indonesia to fully implement the ILO Conventions No. 87 and 98 in respect of fundamental rights regarding freedom to association and expression.
